Why Asphalt Shingles Age
Asphalt shingles are held together by oils in the asphalt that keep them flexible. Every summer of UV exposure and every winter of freeze-thaw cycles slowly drives those oils out. As shingles dry, they become brittle, granules loosen and wash into the eavestroughs, edges begin to curl, and the shingles lose their ability to flex with temperature swings and wind.
Rejuvenation works by putting oil back into the asphalt. Rather than coating the surface, a bio-based treatment soaks into the shingle and restores flexibility from within, which helps shingles hold their granules and resist cracking for years longer.
